Dentures replace teeth that have become loose, or have been lost due to bone loss. Replacing lost teeth with dentures allows you to eat and talk as naturally as possible.
When evaluating your need for dentures, your dentist will examine your entire mouth and determine which teeth will need to be removed and which can stay. The loose teeth will then be extracted. Dentures are fitted to go over or around whatever teeth remain.
You can expect to have an adjustment period after dentures are placed in your mouth. Once you get used to them, normal functionality returns and most people carry on as usual. Often implants can be used to further stabilize dentures.
